Stuart FL Sailfish Report - St. Lucie Inlet Fishing Report
Report Date: December 10, 2010
Stuart, Florida - Sailfish Tournament Season Begins
The first local sailfish tournament of the season, the Finest Kind Marina Quickie, kicked off with great fishing for all. Four fish short of 2005 record of 120 sailfish, the fleet of twenty one boats released 116 sailfish in two days. Some black fin tuna were also in the mix along with an occasional yellowfin (104 pounds - Captain Neil Subin, aboard OUTLAW).
The Pirate’s Cove Sailfish Classic, December 2nd - 5th 2010, produced similiar results. Along with the sailfish was a strong dolphin bite (not counted in the standings). The third highest total in the classic’s history, the fleet of 27 boats finish the three day tournament with 181 releases. The tournament winner, Bandolera, scored a total of 25 releases. Much of that action took place in between 78 to 110 feet east of the Fort Pierce Inlet.
The St. Lucie Inlet is the place to be right now for sailfish action. A cold front pushed through yesterday and the sailfish are here in mass and hungry. This weekend ought to be fantastic.
As a bonus, the dolphin are here in mass and limit catches have been the rule rather that exception. Find a nice weed patch in 200 to 300 feet and fill your limit with 12 to 15 dolphin.
Wahoo have been feeding on those blackfin tunas out past 300 feet. Out there, you're also likely to find the bigger packs of dolphin.
As we move into the winter season more sailfish will be moving south looking for warmer waters. December brings excellent sailfish and dolphin fishing.
Sailfish, Kingfish, Bonita, Tuna, Marlin and Wahoo - they are here now! So get out on the water.
If Wahoo fishing is your thing, we have a month or so window of opportunity to target those hard fighting, good eating, speedsters.
Plenty of dates are available to get you out there for a fish of a life time. Feel free to give us a call anytime if its to book a trip or even just to get a Stuart Florida area fishing report.
The adventure begins anew. Let's go fishing.

Stuart, Florida - Wintertime Sailfish Turn On
south of the St. Lucie Inlet is the place to be right now for sailfish action. Although the action has slowed from the crazy frenzy of early November, 1 or 2 sailfish a day seem to be the average right now. Sea conditions over the last two weeks has scattered the sailfish into between 60 to 300 feet of water, with the sailfish taking both ballyhoo and live bait. Smallish blackfin tuna and bonito of every size have been hard to avoid but if you want sailfish, right now, stick to live bait. Wahoo have been feeding on those blackfin tunas out past 300 feet. Out there, you're also likely to find the bigger packs of dolphin. Generally, the dolphin bite is scattered. There here and in good numbers, but have little interest in feeding.
