Gulf Stream Sailfish Report - St. Lucie Inlet - Sailfish Turn On

Report Date: September 10, 2010

Stuart, Florida - Sailfish Turn On

The sea conditions this week have been picture perfect for sailfish fishing off Stuart's St. lucie Inlet. Hitting ballyhoo, most catches are coming out of 100 to 120 feet. The number of bonito and kingfish still around is a testament to the lingering summer pattern.

Some Dolphin are around offshore and a few wahoo and yellow fin tunas are being caught. Drifting live bait for dolphin around the Push Button Hill area and south toward the Loran Tower should be productive if you can find weeds or rips. Some of the best action right now are the schools of kingfish which are following the reef lines as well as the large mangrove snapper and other bottom fish that lie below them. Due to reoccurring cold water temperatures, live bait can be problematic, so be prepared with plenty of squid or dead sardines if you choose to target snapper or kings.

This weekends weather looks great, so get out on the water. Sailfish, Dolphin, Kingfish and Bonito should be feeding on the bait fish stacked up along the edge of the gulf stream. The heavy dolphin migration should be in full swing in a couple weeks and that should product hot action here and in The Bahamas.

If Wahoo fishing is your thing, The Stuart Gulf stream side and The Bahamas will have prime time Wahoo fishing with the full moon in September. We have a two to three month window of opportunity to target those hard fighting, good eating, speedsters.

Plenty of dates are available to get you out there for a fish of a life time. Feel free to give us a call anytime if its to book a trip or even just to get a fishing report.

The adventure begins anew. Let's go fishing.
