The Finest Kind Marina
Our Home Port

The Finest Kind Marina, located in Stuart, Florida within one mile of the St. Lucie Inlet, near the mouth of the Manatee pocket, has been sold. The Sailfish Marina next door has reportedly purchased the 2 acre site next to Sandsprit Park. The two marina’s will be combined. That will add 17 boat slips and boat repair and storage to Sailfish Marina.

“It’s just a perfect fit to blend the two operations together, to make it one marina to operate,” said Butch Bayley, of Sailfish Marina.

Joe Lehner, who co-owned Finest Kind Marina since 1999, said it’s been difficult for Finest Kind to remain in business by just relying on fuel sales and a few boat slips.

The sale is the second for Lehner the past couple of months.

In April, he sold Finest Kind Offshore Tackle, a catalog and online fishing tackle and gift sales business that included Finest Kind Bait and Tackle, to Krista Chasmar, a longtime employee.

Lehner still owns the well-known charter boat Bone Shaker.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: How many passengers can you accommodate?

A: For the 29' SeaVee Fisherman the U.S. Coast Guard allows us to carry up to 6 passengers, regardless of age or whether or not they are fishing. We recommend parties of 4. For the Rampage 38 Express we accept parties of 6.

Q: How do I book a trip?

A: To book a charter you must reserve the boat. Select a date and contact us. A 20% deposit is required upon booking a charter and reserving a date (we accept checks and all major credit cards).

Q: How about the weather?

A: One Call's primary concern is your safety, and therefore, he will cancel charters if weather conditions are unsafe. Cancellations due to weather are made at the sole discretion of the captain. Our captains have been fishing off the east coast of Florida for 20 years. In most cases, they know when its too rough to fish safely. Charters will be canceled if your captain deems the weather conditions unsafe. If weather conditions become a concern as your charter approaches, we will contact you prior to the charter to discuss the sea state.

Q: Can we bring alcohol on the boat?

A: Beer and wine is fine but no hard liquor! A word to the wise... A leading reason for seasickness is due to the consumption of large quantities of alcohol the night before the trip. Becoming seasickness has ruined trips for more people than I care to think about. Laying off alcohol the night before will help tremendously. Celebrate a wonderful time spent out on the ocean after your trip!

Q: Should I take seasickness medication?

A: Before you take ANY medication, ALWAYS check with your doctor. With that said, we have noticed that these drugs are not very effective when taken one hour or less before departure. If you will be taking this medication, we recommend taking a dose the night before your charter and another when you awake, the morning of the charter. Again, check with your doctor first.

Q: What do we need to bring?

A: We supply everything except food and drinks. Bring things along like cameras, suntan lotion, sunglasses, comfortable clothes for that days weather. Please wear either boat shoes or sneaks on board. No bare feet allowed. (too many sharp things like hooks and teeth on the deck!)

Q: Do I need a fishing license?

A: No, you do not need a fishing license. One Call Charters has a fishing license that covers all anglers on-board.

Q: Do you clean the fish?

A: Yes, we will clean your catch for you. Additional arrangements can be made to have your catch shipped.

Q: Can we keep our catch?

A: Yes, you can keep all the fish you catch as long as the fish harvested are in compliance with state laws. Otherwise, fish caught will be released in accordance with good sportsmanship guidelines.

Q: How do I get a fish mounted?

Getting a fish mounted is easy, and we don’t even need to kill the fish. If you make a trophy catch – like a sailfish, they make beautiful mounts – all we have to do is take some measurements of the fish and send them to Gray's Taxidermy. Your mount will be ready and delivered in a few short weeks. One Call's Captain will take care of everything for you.
